Staying Present in Stressful Times
There is a lot of uncertainty and anxiety in our country right now and understandably there is much to be concerned about. Anxious feelings often stem from fear of what could happen; about worrying about what the future holds. But the truth is that none of us can predict the future. Things around us and within us are in a constant state of flux. The present, this moment right here and now, is all we truly have.
Mindfulness practices like yoga, breathwork and meditation help to mitigate feelings of anxiety because they invite us to be fully present in the here and now. When we give in to feelings of anxiety and despair we are unable to live fully. This world is so in need of our light, but In order for us to show up and contribute effectively to positive change, we need to be at peace with ourselves. Eckhart Tolle said “Whenever you become anxious or stressed, outer purpose has taken over, and you have lost sight of your inner purpose. You have forgotten that your state of consciousness is primary, all else is secondary.”
Hope you can find some time this week to take a walk in nature, create some art, journal, meditate, listen to soothing music, or take a yoga class. Or check out one of my upcoming workshops designed to alleviate anxiety and stress.
